09.07.2004 - PGK at TechEd 2004

The 11th Tech Ed presented by Microsoft took place from 28.06. to 02.07.2004.  After Barcelona in 2003, this developper conference with 6.500 participants took place in Amsterdam. Naturally PGK GmbH participated in this event.

On this occasion Microsoft offered the first Beta-version of its new .NET Version 2.0 for download partially to the public. Furthermore a couple of new product versions of Visual Studio 2005 were announced. The Express-Editions have particular focus on beginners and hobbyists which are interested to learn more about the new technologies in a playful way and without having the need to buy an expensive developers environment.

The new version is expected to be available in the first six month of 2005. Apart from hobbyists the will be novelties for professional developpers as well. The Visual Studio Team System offers a big collection of interesting tools for software architects, developpers and project managers with the objective to optimize the development process. The tools are already used step by step internally at Microsoft to ensure the quality of their own products.

"Visual Studio 2005 is a big step ahead. TheTeam System makes the work of  professional developper teams as those of PGK GmbH much more efficient and gives project managers, an excellent overview on target and actual situations. " explains CTO Patrick A. Lorenz of PGK GmbH. "The Express versions which are low cost respectively free of charge will take care that  .NET gets significant market share in the target group of beginners and hobbyists and therefore result in a totally much larger distribution of .NET.", adds Lorenz..

PGK GmbH works already since around one year with .NET 2.0 as Alpha-Tester and in particular with the new Express products. With this experience Patrick A. Lorenz has written the worldwide first time published book on  ASP.NET 2.0 in October 2003 in the USA. PGK ensures this way to be well informed any time, so that consulting services are alwasy forward minded and future oriented.

TheTechEd party was this time dominated by the Europe Finals in football. The party was sponsored by Codezone which is the developpers portal of Microsoft, built by PGK GmbH in Germany. The next Tech Ed will take place in Amsterdam again from 05.07. to 08.07.2005. It' s obvious that PGK will be one of the participants.
