07.03.2005 - System Integration Initiative .NET (SIIN)

PGK Software & Communication GmbH, Staufen/Germany launched the System Integration Initiative .NET (SIIN) , at the occasion of CeBIT fair 2005. According to SIIN the integration of various homogeneous and heterogeneous systems with .NET leads to a jump in efficiency in existing IT-investments of medium-sized and large companies.

”Globally acting companies still have big IT-budgets to reach strategic advantages in global competition.“, says CEO Michael Brunnhuber of PGK. ”This concept however“, continues Brunnhuber, ”will only work if open and flexible technologies are being utilized. Unfortunately the reality is quite different. Closed systems are in use, interfaces cannot be developed or cause remarkable efforts. There is no adequate ROI for such invests in IT. It is the objective of our initiative to change this situation.”

”We are using the various interface technologies of .NET for system integration. That is what SIIN stands for.“ explains CTO Patrick A. Lorenz. ”Starting with homogeneous Microsoft products as SharePoint Portal Server, Exchange and SQL Server. But there are many closed solutions around which are based on Access and Excel. As they are part of one or the other processes of a company, they should be converted and integrated.”

It is quite typical for global projects that different IT-solutions get together. System solutions as for example SAP have to be integrated. AS/400 or data base solutions as Oracle, DB2 or My SQL shall be integrated. Not to forget existing web-applications based on PHP and classic ASP which shall work together by means of .NET.

The .NET-based Content Management System QualiSite Global of PGK offers a good starting position for this kind of projects. Recurring requirements as multi language support, translation workflows and administration of users and rights are part of the package and guarantee a fast progress of the project and concentration on the core integration requirements.

The open and standardized interfaces of the .NET-framework as for example XML ensure an efficient development of required connectivity. Another strength of this constellation is the high scalability and flexibility regarding adaptations at a later time.

”Our initiative is very much appreciated by globally operating companies. They are all facing similar conditions: high demand for integration, different local conditions and a lot of flexibility. This is the challenge we are facing with SIIN. Using .NET we comply with all of these requirements.“ says CEO Brunnhuber.

PGK Software & Communication GmbH, Staufen / Germany is one of the leading providers of .NET-based solutions with customers located all across Europe and the USA. One of the fields of activity are global projects.
